Dr. Alabdulkader is the CEO of the National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification (NCVC) which was created to manage, protect and develop rangeland, forests, and National Parks. The Center is tasked with combatting desertification and conserving plant genetic resources, vegetation cover and local endangered plant species in Saudi Arabia. The Center conducts studies and supports vegetation-related research.
Dr. Alabdulkader has served as senior environmental advisor at Saudi Aramco. He was a professor in the Department of Geosciences at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and a researcher in the Department of Water and Environmental Resources at the Research Institute of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
Previously Dr. Alabdulkader was head of Saudi Aramco’s environmental conservation program in collaboration with King Fahd University and King Abdullah University, and CEO of the giant Manifa oil field project. He developed the Mangrove Eco Park and the Shaybah Reserve in the Empty Quarter and chaired the Board of Directors for the Association for Technology and Environmental Management. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Wildlife Authority and was vice chairman of Saudi Aramco’s Environmental Standards Committee and supervised many environmental impact assessment projects in Saudi Aramco.
