Dr. Nahed Mohammed

Dr. Mohammed joined the KAUST Center for Desert Agriculture in 2019 as a post-doctoral researcher. Her research focuses on studying plant genomes with ambition to contribute by her research in solving the 10 billion people question. Her research topics include sequencing plant genomes such as crops and native plant species of cultural, religious, medicinal and pastoral significance in Saudi Arabia. 

Dr. Mohammed leads the Native Genome Project in collaboration with MEWA’s National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification to biologically characterize different ecosystems across Saudi Arabia. The project’s outcomes would promote sustainable agricultural practices throughout the kingdom, achieve food security and protect the environment by preserving biological diversity.
